                                    F- Halloween costume parade

Please bring in a plain white mens sized t-shirt (new or gently used). We will use it to make a Native American costume. 

Halloween Carnival: Thank you to all who signed up to help in our booths.   
Uniform:  
It is almost time to put away the shorts and bring out the pants.  Boys must wear the navy corduroy pants and girls must wear the plaid jumper.  Pink socks, shoes, and shoelaces can be packed away till next year.

Halloween Carnival- October 31st.  5-8 pm

Rosary: During the month of October we pray the rosary as a school.  Please help your child learn how to move from one bead to the next and practice saying a decade.  This is a wonderful opportunity to brush up on our faith, start a family tradition and teach our children the importance of prayer.
Halloween CarnivalThank you for bringing in the bags of candy.  Your help is greatly appreciated.  Also, stop by the classroom and sign up for a time to work at our class booth. This qualifies for service hours!
Box Tops & Labels for Education: Please clip the labels and bring them in to class. Every month the class that brought in the most box tops and labels will win one free dress day. Ask your friends and family to help you win!
Fall Program:  We will be performing in the fall program. 

Parent/Teacher Conferences:  Conferences are this week.  I am looking forward to meeting with you to discuss your child's progress.

Reminders:  
Only OLM uniform sweatshirts/sweaters can be worn at Morning Prayer and inside the classrooms.  Jackets may be worn during recess only.  

Label all outerwear.  Please check that your child brought home their own sweater/sweatshirt. 

Remind children to put their sweater or sweatshirt in their backpack when not in use.

Bring 2 bags of wrapped candy and $2.00 for the Halloween Carnival.

Uniforms: Summer uniform season has been extended for an additional month.

Halloween Carnival: Thank you for bringing in the bags of candy.  Your help is greatly appreciated.  Also, stop by the classroom and sign up for a time to work at our class booth. This qualifies for service hours!

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip:  We will leave for Hunter Farms Pumpkin Patch Wednesday morning right after morning prayer and return at 11:30.  Children may wear free dress that day but keep in mind we are outdoors on a farm.  Jeans would be best.

Sweatshirts and Sweaters:  
Please label all sweatshirts and sweaters.  No iron clothing labels are a great way to do this.  You can write your child’s name on them, they stick on (no ironing), and stay on in the washer and dryer.  Martha Stewart makes a good one.  I got some at Staples years ago for my children.
Snack Money:
Please bring a labeled ziplock baggie with snack sale money for your child if you would like them to be able to purchase something on cookie sale or healthy snack sale days.  Many of you have already done so.  Several children need more money.  Come check with us and we will let you know  if your child needs more spending money.
Pet Photo:
Due Monday 9/28/15.  Please bring in a photo of your pet.  We are making a poster for the Blessing of the Animals Mass.

Sweatshirts and Sweaters:
Please label all sweatshirts and sweaters.  No iron clothing labels are a great way to do this.  You can write your childs name on them, they stick on (no ironing), and stay on in the washer and dryer.  Martha Stewart makes a good one.  I got some at Staples years ago for my children.

St. Vincent dePaul:
Please pack a healthy sack lunch to give to the poor on Friday.  We will decorate a bag on Thursday, you can fill it and bring it back on Friday morning.  Items to include:  PBJ sandwich, apple, granola bar, and a water.  These are not refrigerated so don't include things that need to be refrigerated.

Pet Photo:
Due Monday 9/28/15.  Please bring in a photo of your pet.  We are making a poster for the Blessing of the Animals Mass.

Box Tops & Labels for Education:   Please clip the labels and bring them in to class. Every month the class that brought in the most box tops and labels will win one free dress day. Ask your friends and family to help you win!

Printer Cartridges and Cell Phones:  Did you know we recycle printer cartridges and old cell phones?  The class that brings in the most cartridges/cell phones wins a pizza lunch at the end of the school year! 

Shop Smart for Schools:  Merced Mall awards the top ten placing schools cash prizes.  Help OLM win by taking your Merced Mall store receipts to the Mall Customer Service counter.  Have them stamp, log and apply them toward OLM school.  For more information go to www.mercedmall.com/shopsmart

Pumpkin Patch:   Permission slips will be coming home soon. Chaperones must have completed the required safe environment training, cleared fingerprints, and turned in the forms for driving (see office for these).

Prayer of the Month:  Prayer to Our Lady of Mercy

Safe Environment:  Wednesday September 2nd at 6 pm and September 10th at 6:30pm.  Everyone must be safe environment trained and fingerprinted  in order to help in the classroom or chaperone on field trips.  Do this as soon as possible.

Pet Photo
We are making a poster for the Blessing of the Animals Mass.  Please bring in a photo of your pet.  Thank you J

Folders:  Folders will be sent home Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  Please turn in the folder the following day.

Spirit Blue and White Free Dress:  Friday September 4th is our first blue and white free dress day.  Let the children show their school spirit by wearing blue and white.  jeans, shorts, and an OLM t-shirt are a perfect outfit for this day.

Mass Day:  Tuesday, September 8th is a Mass Day.  Students are to wear the Mass Day uniform.

International Wine & Food Event:  Saturday, September 12th at 6pm.  Tickets may be purchased in the office.  This is a good way to meet other parents at OLM. Come and join the fun!

Morning Prayer:  The Morning Offering

Last week
This past week we continued to work on classroom routines, letter recognition, numbers, shapes and color recognition.  We are learning how to read our color words too.

Snack Sale:
Occasionally there will be juice or snacks for purchase (.25-$1).  These are offered somewhat randomly throughout the year.  To make things easier for parents, we are willing to keep a baggie of loose change for your child here in our classroom.  Just bring in some loose change and we will put it in a baggie with your child’s name on it.  Then, when there is a snack sale they can decide if they want to purchase anything.

Lunch with Mercy
We are selling raffle tickets for “Lunch with Mercy”.  Tickets are .25  each and are sold at lunchtime.  Proceeds will go to the SPCA.

Dress Code: page 15-16 parent handbook
·      Nail polish is not allowed.
·      Shoes must be black, white, grey, or brown.  No pink, orange, green. Boots and sandals are not allowed.
·      Socks must be white, black, navy blue
·      Bows/ barrettes/headbands:  Only a single red, blue or white ribbon may be worn.  Red, blue, white or black barrettes may be worn. No flowers, or bejeweled headbands.  See the dress code for details
·      No spiked hair
·      Shoelaces must be black, white, brown, or grey.  Refer to the dress code for details.
·      Only the Dennis navy blue cardigan sweater, navy blue vest sweater or OLM school emblem sweatshirts may be worn.

Ink Cartridge update:  We won the contest! Kindergarten will have pizza on Wednesday.  Thank you for your support. :) 

The school year is coming to a close and we are busy preparing for our Closing Prayer Service.  Please help your child memorize their speaking part. 

8th Grade Carnival
The 8th grade carnival is Friday, May 22nd,from 10-12. This is a free dress day. There will be many game booths and activities set up for all the students.  Food will also be available for purchase. Please send in $5-10 to purchase tickets and/or food.  Dismissal is at 12:30.

Kindergarten Memory Books
Please pick up your child’s Kindergarten Memory Book on Friday, May 22nd. 

Kindergarten Memories DVD 
We are making a Kindergarten Memories DVD.  These are available for purchase.  An order form has been sent out.  Please return the form and money by 5/22.

Kindergarten Closing Prayer Service
Our closing prayer service is Thursday 5/28 following morning prayer.  Children are to wear their Mass day uniform.  Dismissal is immediately following (approximately 9:30).  This is Kindergarten’s last day of school. Please make every effort to ensure your child has an adult representative here on this very important day.

LAST DAY OF HOT LUNCH IS THURSDAY 5/21.  All remaining lunch and milk tickets will be sent home for use next year along with any snack sale/juice/cookie money.
