Morning Prayer:  Morning Offering

Thank you everyone for coming to our Open House.  The children have been working hard and enjoyed showing you everything they are doing in Kindergarten.

Folders:  Please remember to check your child’s folder, remove papers and return the folder the following day.

Game Day:  This Friday student council is leading a game day for K-4th grades.  Tickets will be available for purchase.

Snack Sale:  Occasionally there will be juice or snacks for purchase (.25-$1).  These are offered somewhat randomly throughout the year.  To make things easier for parents, we are willing to keep a baggie of loose change for your child here in our classroom.  Just bring in some loose change and we will put it in a baggie with your child’s name on it.  Then when there is a snack sale they can decide if they want to purchase anything.

Lunch with Mercy:  We are selling raffle tickets for “Lunch with Mercy”.  Proceeds will go to the SPCA.

Dress Code:
Just a few reminders about the dress code.
*Nail polish is not allowed.
*Bows/ barrettes/headbands:  Only a single red, blue or white ribbon may be worn.  Red, blue, white or black barrettes may be worn. No flowers, or bejeweled headbands.  See the dress code for details
*Only the Dennis navy blue cardigan sweater, navy blue vest sweater or OLM school emblem sweatshirts may be worn.

Theme:  Colors & Shapes
Letter of the Week:  Alphabet Review
Sight Word:  like/you
Morning Prayer:  The Morning Offering

Last week
This past week we worked on classroom routines, letter recognition, number recognition, writing our names, getting to know our school.

Folders:
Folders will be sent home whenever we have notices, papers, etc. that need your attention.  When folders are sent home please return them the next school day (even if they are empty).  Simply place the folder in the yellow box at the sign in table.  Encourage your child to take charge of this task for you.

Homework:
Homework goes out on Fridays and is due the following Thursday.  Please complete the packet in pencil unless otherwise noted, remind the children to color in the pages neatly, and when practicing their name to write neatly on the lines.  It may help if you write their name in yellow highlighter then let them write over the yellow in pencil.

Please look over your child’s homework packet before they turn it in.  Help your child correct any errors and encourage your child to work neatly.  This is the time to establish good homework/study habits.

Snack:
Please pack a snack for your child everyday.  It helps if you label the snack and send a spoon if their snack needs one.

Reminders
Safe Environment Training Tuesday at 6pm.  If you plan on helping in the classroom, driving for field trips or chaperoning you must have completed the training, cleared fingerprints, and submitted driving forms to the office.  We go on a field trip in October.  If you want to drive/chaperone you must attend the safe environment training and get fingerprinted.   Please allow two weeks for fingerprint clearance.

Newsletter and other notices are posted on my blog.  Check the OLM website.
