                    Theme: Animals                 Prayer of the Month: Hail Holy Queen

Feast of St. Francis: There will be Mass on Friday October 4th at 11:00. Mass will take place on the front lawn of the school. Animals may be brought at this time to be blessed. Students will sit with their class while those parents with animals will be in a special section. After Mass students may go to their parent and walk their pet up to be blessed.

Uniform Update:  Shorts have been extended until November 1^st.  Students may also wear the uniform shorts for the Mass this Friday as it is an outdoor Mass.

Box Tops & Labels for Education: Please clip the labels and bring them in to class. Every month the class that brought in the most box tops and labels will win one free dress day. Ask your friends and family to help you win!

Pumpkin Patch: Please turn in the permission slip and fee as soon as possible. I need to have these in so that I can create groups. If your child is not going to attend please let me know. Also, parents who want to chaperone must have the safety class completed and fingerprints cleared.  Drivers must have turned in a copy of car registration, drivers license and your insurance declaration page.  See office for these forms.

St. Vincent dePaul Lunch: Thank you for bringing in a bag lunch this past Friday

Reminders:  Label all outerwear.  Please check that your child brought home their own sweater/sweatshirt.  Remind children to put their sweater or sweatshirt in their backpack when not in use.

Friday 9/13 is a Spirit Free Dress Day.  Please wear the OLM gym shirt.

Blessing of the Animals:

Printer Cartridges and Cell Phones

Did you know we recycle printer cartridges and old cell phones?  The class that brings in the most cartridges/cell phones wins a pizza lunch at the end of the school year!  We are currently in second place. 

Pumpkin Patch:

Permission slips will be coming home soon. Chaperones must have completed the required safe environment training, cleared fingerprints, and turned in the forms for driving (see office for these).

Reminders:

Label all outerwear. Remind children to put their sweater or sweatshirt in their backpack when not in use.

Pet Photo:

Please bring in a photo of your pet for a class poster we will use in the next Mass.

Last week

This past week we worked on classroom routines, letter recognition, number recognition, writing our names, getting to know our school.

           

Folders:

Folders will be sent home whenever we have notices, papers, etc. that need your attention.  When folders are sent home please return them the next school day (even if they are empty).  Simply place the folder in the yellow box at the sign in table.  Encourage your child to take charge of this task for you.

Homework:

Homework goes out on Fridays and is due the following Thursday.  Please complete the packet in pencil unless otherwise noted, remind the children to color in the pages neatly, and when practicing their name to write neatly on the lines.  It may help if you write their name in yellow highlighter then let them write over the yellow in pencil. 

Please look over your child’s homework packet before they turn it in., correct any errors and encourage your child to work neatly.  This is the time to establish good homework/study habits.

Snack:

Please pack a snack for your child everyday.  It helps if you label the snack and send a spoon if their snack needs one.

Pumpkin Patch/Safe Environment/Fingerprinting

This field trip is coming up in October.  If you want to drive/chaperone you must attend the safe environment training and get fingerprinted.   Please allow two weeks for fingerprint clearance.
