Letter of the Week:  Cc                                  Morning Prayer:  The Morning Offering

Last week
This past week we continued to work on classroom routines, letter recognition, numbers, shapes and color recognition.  We are learning how to read our color words too.

Lunch & Milk Count:
To expedite the lunch and milk count process please fill out the lunch/milk slip sent home every week.  You may also come into the classroom and fill out the lunch/milk form.  Just fill out Yes or No on the lunch/milk slip or circle the days on the form in the classroom.

Supplies& Drop Off:
Kindergarteners must bring a backpack and snack to school everyday.  Also, children arriving before 7:50 need to go to the cafeteria and wait for the bell before coming to the classroom.   When they  arrive in the classroom the children 1) turn their name tag around, 2) put their folder and any communications in the green tray, and 3) hang up their backpacks.  Then the children may go to centers or begin morning seat work.

Snack Sale:
Occasionally there will be juice or snacks for purchase (.25-$1).  These are offered somewhat randomly throughout the year.  To make things easier for parents, we are willing to keep a baggie of loose change for your child here in our classroom.  Just bring in some loose change and we will put it in a baggie with your child’s name on it.  Then, when there is a snack sale they can decide if they want to purchase anything.

Lunch with Mercy
We are selling raffle tickets for “Lunch with Mercy”.  Tickets are .25  each and are sold at lunchtime.  Proceeds will go to the SPCA.

Letter of the Week:  Alphabet Review  Sight Word:  like/you
Morning Prayer:  The Morning Offering

Last week
This past week we worked on classroom routines, letter recognition, number recognition, writing our names, getting to know our school.

Folders:
Folders will be sent home whenever we have notices, papers, etc. that need your attention.  When folders are sent home please return them the next school day (even if they are empty).  Simply place the folder in the green box on the counter next to the sink.  Encourage your child to take charge of this task for you in addition to hanging up their backpack.

Homework:
Homework goes out on Fridays and is due the following Thursday.  Please complete the packet in pencil unless otherwise noted, remind the children to color in the pages neatly, and when practicing their name to write neatly on the lines.  It may help if you write their name in yellow highlighter then let them write over the yellow in pencil.

Please look over your child’s homework packet before they turn it in.  Help your child correct any errors and encourage your child to work neatly.  This is the time to establish good homework/study habits.

Snack:
Please pack a snack for your child everyday.  It helps if you label the snack and send a spoon if their snack needs one.

Reminders
If you plan on helping in the classroom, driving for field trips or chaperoning you must have completed the Safe Environment Training, cleared fingerprints, and submitted driving forms to the office.  We will go on a field trip in October.  If you want to drive/chaperone you must attend the safe environment training and get fingerprinted.   Please allow two weeks for fingerprint clearance. All necessary training and clearances must be completed and in the office at least one week prior to our field trips.

Welcome Everyone!

We had a great first day of school.  The children listened and followed directions well, they worked hard and played well with their peers.

Tomorrow is our first full day of school.  A.M. Kindergarten is dismissed at 11:30.  For those enrolled in Kindergarten Enrichment, dismissal will be at 2:30.  I will walk those enrolled in extended care to the extended care building.

Each child brings their own snack everyday.  Please label their snack and lunch items so that they don't eat their lunch at snack time by mistake.

Milk and Hot lunch cards can be purchased in the morning through Teresa.  She is in room 7 from 7:30 - 7:50 am. Or you can see her in the main office.

Thanks again for a great first day!
