Christmas Party:  We will have a special snack, treat, and juice Friday, December 18th.

Uniform Dress Code:
Please be aware, the only sweatshirt allowed is the OLM sweater/sweatshirt.  Jackets (any color) may be worn at recess on the playground only.  Also the rules and guidelines can be found in the parent handbook.

Homework:
No homework will be sent home this week.  Homework will be sent home the Friday that we return to school.

Please continue to practice letter and number recognition (upper and lower case) letter sound association, and sight words. We are also working on ordinal numbers (first, second, third, etc), writing our numbers 1-30,  rhyming words, in addition to blending and segmenting words (b-a-t, bat), and writing. 

Advent Reflection:
This Thursday we will lead the Advent Reflection during Morning Prayer in the Cafeteria.

Sight Words: look, for, can, he, it
Prayer of the Month: Act of Contrition

Please continue to practice recognizing and writing: sight words, letter recognition and phonics. We will continue working on these skills in class. In addition we will continue practicing identifying beginning, middle and ending sounds, rhyming and writing numbers to 1 -30.

Fall Program:  We are in the Fall Program.  Children are to wear their Sunday best and meet in our classroom by 6:15 p.m.

T-Shirts:
Thank you for bringing in the t-shirts for our costumes.

Uniforms:  Its cold out there!  Time for sweatshirts/sweaters.  Please label them.  We try very hard to make sure your child does not lose their sweatshirts, labeling them helps.

Thanksgiving Snack:
It is tradition here at OLM for the Kindergarten (Native Americans) to host a Thanksgiving snack for the First graders (Pilgrims). We will have a small Thanksgiving snack with 1st grade class on Thursday.

Operation Christmas:
 As we give thanks for the blessings in our lives let us not forget those in need. Each year the classes at OLM gather various supplies and create shoe boxes filled with necessities and small toys for the poor in third world countries. Thank you for bringing in your contribution.

Thank you for bringing in the packets of gravy, the washcloths and bars of soap.  Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Fall Program/ Thanksgiving Dinner 11/18 at 6:30:
We are in the fall program November 18th.  Children are to dress in their Sunday best and report to the classroom at 6:15.

T-Shirts:
We are making a Native American costume. Please bring in an adult sized white t-shirt by Wednesday of this week. They don’t have to be new one of Dad's old ones is perfect! (We will be cutting it and decorating it with markers)

Uniforms:
A number of students have been out of uniform lately.  Please read the dress code regulations found in the student handbook.  All boys must wear the corduroy pants and girls must wear the plaid uniform.  Girls may wear the uniform corduroy pants during the months of December, January, and February.  Pink socks, shoes, and shoelaces are no longer allowed.  Only OLM sweatshirts and sweaters are allowed in the classroom. Jackets may be worn outside at recess time.  Order forms for the jacket and sweatshirts are available in the office.  Tights are allowed, leggings are not. Thank you.

Operation Christmas Shoe Boxes:  We will be filling boxes (with our faith family) to send to needy children throughout the world.  Thank you for bringing in the washcloths and bars of soap.

Spirit Free Dress:  Friday is a Spirit Free Dress day.  Students are to wear an OLM t-shirt.

Home Work:  Homework is to be done in crayon and/or pencil.  Please do  not use markers or pens.  

Dress Code: Don't forget the fall/winter dress code means no more shorts.  Boots are not allowed. Also, the only sweatshirts that may be worn on campus are the OLM sweatshirts. Jackets may be any color but can only be worn during recess. Please refer to the handbook if you have any questions.

Hair: Boys--hair must be above the ears, eyebrows and collar. Girls--only Black, brown, white or OLM hair clips (etc) may be worn ( no pink, purple, aqua, etc., hair ties, clips or rubber bands).

Shop Smart:
Remember to continue saving and turning in your receipts from the Merced Mall (Target and Sears included). You can turn them in at the Customer Service Booth, the school office, or the classroom.

Catholic Charities:
Please bring in two packets of gravy mix by Friday 11/6.

Spirit Free Dress:
We will have a spirit free dress on Friday November 13.  Only OLM t-shirts will be allowed on spirit days.

Thanksgiving Snack: It is tradition here at OLM for the kindergarten (Native Americans) to share a Thanksgiving snack for the first graders (Pilgrims). Please bring in a plain white mens sized t-shirt (new or gently used). We will use it to make a Native American costume. 

Halloween Carnival: Thank you to all who signed up to help in our booths.   
Uniform:  
It is almost time to put away the shorts and bring out the pants.  Boys must wear the navy corduroy pants and girls must wear the plaid jumper.  Pink socks, shoes, and shoelaces can be packed away till next year.

Box Tops & Labels for Education: Please clip the labels and bring them in to class. Every month the class that brought in the most box tops and labels will win one free dress day. Ask your friends and family to help you win!
Fall Program:  We will be performing in the fall program. 

Parent/Teacher Conferences:  Conferences are this week.  I am looking forward to meeting with you to discuss your child's progress.

Reminders:  
Only OLM uniform sweatshirts/sweaters can be worn at Morning Prayer and inside the classrooms.  Jackets may be worn during recess only.

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip:  We will leave for Hunter Farms Pumpkin Patch Wednesday morning right after morning prayer and return at 11:30.  Children may wear free dress that day but keep in mind we are outdoors on a farm.  Jeans would be best.

Sweatshirts and Sweaters:  
Please label all sweatshirts and sweaters.  No iron clothing labels are a great way to do this.  You can write your child’s name on them, they stick on (no ironing), and stay on in the washer and dryer.  Martha Stewart makes a good one.  I got some at Staples years ago for my children.
Snack Money:
Please bring a labeled ziplock baggie with snack sale money for your child if you would like them to be able to purchase something on cookie sale or healthy snack sale days.  Many of you have already done so.  Several children need more money.  Come check with us and we will let you know  if your child needs more spending money.
Pet Photo:
Due Monday 9/28/15.  Please bring in a photo of your pet.  We are making a poster for the Blessing of the Animals Mass.

Sweatshirts and Sweaters:
Please label all sweatshirts and sweaters.  No iron clothing labels are a great way to do this.  You can write your childs name on them, they stick on (no ironing), and stay on in the washer and dryer.  Martha Stewart makes a good one.  I got some at Staples years ago for my children.

St. Vincent dePaul:
Please pack a healthy sack lunch to give to the poor on Friday.  We will decorate a bag on Thursday, you can fill it and bring it back on Friday morning.  Items to include:  PBJ sandwich, apple, granola bar, and a water.  These are not refrigerated so don't include things that need to be refrigerated.

Pet Photo:
Due Monday 9/28/15.  Please bring in a photo of your pet.  We are making a poster for the Blessing of the Animals Mass.

Box Tops & Labels for Education:   Please clip the labels and bring them in to class. Every month the class that brought in the most box tops and labels will win one free dress day. Ask your friends and family to help you win!

Printer Cartridges and Cell Phones:  Did you know we recycle printer cartridges and old cell phones?  The class that brings in the most cartridges/cell phones wins a pizza lunch at the end of the school year! 

Shop Smart for Schools:  Merced Mall awards the top ten placing schools cash prizes.  Help OLM win by taking your Merced Mall store receipts to the Mall Customer Service counter.  Have them stamp, log and apply them toward OLM school.  For more information go to www.mercedmall.com/shopsmart

Pumpkin Patch:   Permission slips will be coming home soon. Chaperones must have completed the required safe environment training, cleared fingerprints, and turned in the forms for driving (see office for these).

Prayer of the Month:  Prayer to Our Lady of Mercy

Safe Environment:  Wednesday September 2nd at 6 pm and September 10th at 6:30pm.  Everyone must be safe environment trained and fingerprinted  in order to help in the classroom or chaperone on field trips.  Do this as soon as possible.

Pet Photo
We are making a poster for the Blessing of the Animals Mass.  Please bring in a photo of your pet.  Thank you J

Folders:  Folders will be sent home Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  Please turn in the folder the following day.

Spirit Blue and White Free Dress:  Friday September 4th is our first blue and white free dress day.  Let the children show their school spirit by wearing blue and white.  jeans, shorts, and an OLM t-shirt are a perfect outfit for this day.

Mass Day:  Tuesday, September 8th is a Mass Day.  Students are to wear the Mass Day uniform.

International Wine & Food Event:  Saturday, September 12th at 6pm.  Tickets may be purchased in the office.  This is a good way to meet other parents at OLM. Come and join the fun!
